The Halloween spirit is alive and jumping at AnyMeeting, with everyone getting into the fun. Just about everyone at AnyMeeting headquarters was in costume and participated in our inter-office space Halloween costume contest. Colin, one of our developers, took the honors when he came dressed as space defying and sound-barrier breaking Felix Baumgartner.
Dressed in his flight suit and helmet, Felix was ready to break more records with an entirely new jump. From a dizzying height of the top of his desk, Felix once again prepared for a leap of faith. When everything was set, he stepped off and quickly reached a maximum speed of three feet per second for a total distance of about three feet.
The journey was a complete success, and only took a second. Our death-defying developer is now resting comfortably at his desk recalling his epic journey, and wishes everyone a Happy Halloween!!!!

There is no way I would have been able to do this without AnyMeeting.”

The web conference or online meeting has become a valuable tool for small businesses, opening a variety of options for connecting with clients and colleagues immediately. As the growth of the small business community continues, we see an increasing amount of companies with employees working remotely.
In fact, a survey of 1,500 business owners was conducted earlier this year by Elance, a site that matches employers with employees who are able to work remotely. The survey found that 54 percent of those business owners expect the majority of their work force to be working online by 2017.
A remote work force can help remove barriers that small businesses previously faced. Employers are no longer bound by the location of their employees, and can select the best talent available, not just the best talent located in the immediate area. Employees are no longer obligated to relocate their families when accepting a position that is located on the other side of the country.
The web conference now allows employers to connect with their remote workers in real time, who can share progress with their current assignments and discuss upcoming projects. Employers can also train new employees and conduct performance reviews. Web conferencing literally tears down the walls of the conventional office and provides a more flexible work environment.
The online meeting can also save time when conducting business with clients. Instead of dealing with the travel time and expense it can take to meet with an existing or perspective client in person, the web conference can get that important meeting started immediately, and at no cost with a solution like AnyMeeting.
There are several resources available online that offer tips to help ensure a smooth and successful web conference. Productivity501.com has several articles including one with nine tips for effective online meetings.
The Genetic Alliance UK submitted a presentation entitled The Wales Webinar on the Consultation on the UK Plan for Rare Diseases. The alliance believes that everyone living with a rare disease should be able to receive high quality services, treatment and support. The aim of their stakeholder engagement project was to encourage those affected by/interested in rare diseases to respond to a government consultation on a rare disease plan. The UK has never had a comprehensive plan a for rare diseases, even though 1 in 17 people will be affected by a rare disease at some point in their life, which amounts to approximately 3.5 million people in the UK. Samantha Reeve, Policy Research Officer for the alliance further discusses their experience with AnyMeeting.
“We held four events, in which participants watched live and put questions to the chair of RDUK, Alastair Kent. More importantly, AnyMeeting’s recording function meant that our members could access the webinars at any time. In total, 408 people watched our recorded meetings for England, Wales, NI, and Scotland. Our members were really grateful that they could watch the slides whilst hearing Alastair explain things, and have the opportunity ask questions at the end.”
“We really enjoyed hosting these webinars, being able to connect with our members who can’t attend events. As a small charity, being able to use a free meeting service was fantastic! The stakeholder engagement event was really successful, and although we are waiting for the rare disease plan to be published, we think that it will reflect the interests and experiences of our members. It will also help patients access services and treatments like other patients, in no small part thanks to anymeeting!”

“We love AnyMeeting and often recommend it because of its easy-to-use design, helpful ways of sending invitations and reminders, and the ability to integrate video conferencing. We have often recommended AnyMeeting to other colleagues because of the excellent services – really good stuff for a free service!”
“We also organized a series of trainings for facilitators of a Leadership Training. This is an excellent example of how we used video conferencing to create a comprehensive, four hour training, and then used AnyMeeting for subsequent follow-up training calls. We especially appreciated the video integration so the participants could see each other during this training, which required a higher level of intimacy within the group of people who were spread across the United States (Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Maryland, etc.).”
