Freebinar Rebrands as Anymeeting, Adds Video Broadcasting

New Name and Features Strengthen Company’s Identity and Free Web Conferencing Platform

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., March 29, 2011 – Freebinar, the completely free web conferencing and webinar service, today announced that it is rebranding as AnyMeeting.  Along with the change in identity, AnyMeeting is also adding new features, including integrated video broadcasting and raising the meeting capacity from 150 attendees to 200.  The transition brings a broader presence to a company that is continuing to grow in the web communications market, providing quality premium service to a growing customer base that is logging millions of meeting minutes per month.

AnyMeeting will continue to be completely free, and is broadening its service offering beyond webinars to include any type of meeting, from small two person collaborative web meetings, to full 200 person online events.  The addition of free video web conferencing and added seating capacity are just the first of many additions and improvements AnyMeeting plans to make going forward.

The name change and addition of new features will help strengthen the company’s identity in the market place and improve the online meeting experience for its customers.  “We are very excited about building a stronger identity for the company, while at the same time, constantly improving on the high quality free service that our users love,” said Costin Tuculescu, President and CEO of AnyMeeting.  “The name AnyMeeting embodies our ability and our commitment to providing customers with the tools they need to make all of their online meetings a success.”

AnyMeeting is advertiser supported, so there is no need to charge customers for the service or offer a free trial with limited access.

It offers users the same quality features as larger players in the space, without the cost.  Because it is supported by advertising, AnyMeeting is able to provide a high quality service to small business users who are looking to take advantage of more efficient, affordable and productive web communications.

Recently, the company improved their application sharing feature to make it even easier for meeting hosts to manage live presentations.  In addition, recent upgrades to the meeting recording feature provide presenters with more flexibility when editing recorded meetings, allowing them to change the start and stop time of a recording, and add bookmarks that take viewers to specific points in the presentation.

New Name, Even Better Free Web Conferencing

Thanks to your support, Freebinar has been growing rapidly!  Over the next few weeks, we will be making some exciting new announcements — the first announcement being our new name, AnyMeeting.  We would like to thank you for all of your comments and suggestions, which helped us select our new name.

Free Web ConferencingAs part of our rebranding effort, we will be broadening the scope of services we offer to go beyond just webinars.  In the very near future, we will begin rolling out a wider variety of meeting features and services.  Does this mean we are going to try to up-sell you to pay for these features? Absolutely not.  Our commitment to being free and being the best is stronger than ever.

Beginning March 26th, we will transition freebinar.com to anymeeting.com.  Not to worry, this change won’t affect your scheduled meetings, recordings or account log-in details.  When the transition is made, freebinar.com url’s will simply redirect to their corresponding anymeeting.com url’s.  For example, if you already scheduled a meeting for next month and sent out invitations, attendees will still be able to access your meeting with the meeting link they received.

Keep your eye out over the next few weeks for exciting new features announcements. The best way to stay informed is to follow our new AnyMeeting Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Improved Screen Sharing & Recording Editing Now Available

Update: Please note that AnyMeeting was known as Freebinar prior to 3/26/11. Blog posts prior to this date may still mention Freebinar. For more information, please review our blog post or FAQ’s.

Screen Sharing is Now More User Friendly

  • Text chat notifications sent to presenters when screen sharing
  • Easily switch which file is being displayed when in application sharing mode

We received a lot of feedback from Freebinar customers on how it was difficult to use screen sharing and view incoming text chats at the same time.  To solve this issue, we’ve added text chat notifications.  Now when in screen sharing mode, presenters receive a pop-up notification when an attendee sends a text chat.

We have also made usability improvements to application sharing.  Presenters can now easily switch the application being shared directly from the system tray. We’ve also changed the view attendees see when application sharing is paused, now attendees see a snapshot of the application rather than a blank gray screen.  For example, if the presenter is displaying a PowerPoint presentation via application sharing and needs to view the Freebinar interface to respond to a text chat, attendees will still see PowerPoint on their screens.

* These screen sharing upgrades are immediately available to presenters on PC’s who install the updated Freebinar screen sharing plug-in.  Mac users and those who haven’t installed the plug-in can still use screen sharing in full screen mode.

Presenters Can Now Easily Edit Recordings

  • Adjust start and finish times
  • Add bookmarks (cue points) within the presentation

The new recording editing feature includes the ability to adjust the start and stop time of recorded meetings.  Presenters can now also add bookmarks (cue points), which take viewers to specific points in the presentation.
